Medellín is the second-largest city in Colombia, after Bogotá, and the capital of Antioquia. It is located in the Aburrá Valley, a central region of the Andes Mountains in South America. On 24 August 2019, 14 SSIO volunteers joined more than 50 members of the local community to plant 665 trees in Medellín, as part of the One Million Trees initiative organised by the Mayor’s Office. One of the volunteers said, “At the beginning, we shared experiences among all those present, which motivated us to participate in such a noble service as planting trees, as part of Go Green project of the SSIO.”
