2013 Avatar Declaration Day – Tanzania

On 20th October 2013, Sathya Sai volunteers served food to more than 400 people, including children and ladies, at the Shariff Mosque in the Kunduchi area of Dar es Salaam. The Imam of the mosque graciously arranged a prayer session in which all Sathya Sai volunteers participated. Biscuits were served to children. 2013 Avatar Declaration Day – Kenya

On 20th October 2013, volunteers from the Sathya Sai Centre of Mombasa served vegetable curry, cabbage, rice, fruit, cakes and fruit juice to 50 elderly guests and 25 staff at the Little Sisters of the Poor home in Tudor Nyumba ya Wazee, Tudor. Songs, mimicry and dances were organised to entertain the guests. On 19th October 2013, eye examinations were organised for the guests, and reading glasses and medications were distributed. An exercise bicycle was donated to the physio-therapy unit of the home. In addition, 50 sets of bedsheets with pillowcases, 50 towels and 70 pairs of rubber slippers were also distributed. 2013 Avatar Declaration Day – Russia and Adjoining Countries

Over 310 participants from Russia and six adjoining countries lovingly served food to more than 1,100 people in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Moldova and Kyrgyzstan. In addition to hot meals, fresh home-baked items, cookies and candy were distributed. Low-income families and people with disabilities were given food packages. 2013 Avatar Declaration Day – Nepal

Sathya Sai Centres and Bhajan Groups across the country observed devotional activities, bhajans, and service activities to commemorate Avatar Declaration Day. A highlight of the occasion was the laying of the foundation stone for a community drinking water project in a hilly area to serve 335 families as well as 355 students of a community school. Food was lovingly served to more than 5,000 people. Special relief packages, consisting of groceries for a month and clothing for an entire family, were distributed to 30 destitute families. Other service activities included serving more than 220 patients in medical camps, serving nutritious meals to more than 300 patients in a hospital, cleaning hospital premises and temples and service at homes for the elderly. USA Celebration of Avatar Declaration Day 2013

Across the USA, Sathya Sai Centres observed Avatar Declaration Day in October 2013 with service activities and devotional meetings. Sathya Sai volunteers in every region of the country prepared and served hot meals to the homeless, the elderly and the poor, and distributed meal and snack packets. 2013 Avatar Declaration Day – Italy

On 20th October 2013, 120 members from 15 Sathya Sai Centres with a number of others served food to 650 needy people in honour of Avatar Declaration Day (20th October). In Piemonte, Sathya Sai devotees distributed 3 kg of biscuits, 370 slices of pizza, and milk and coffee to more than 200 homeless people on 20th October. In Lombardia, volunteers distributed food to many destitute people who live around the rail station of Bergamo. Educare Workshop at a Detention Facility for Delinquent Youth – Guyana

An Educare workshop was conducted on Saturday, 12th October 2013, by the ISSE of West Indies, Guyana Chapter, at the New Opportunity Corps. (NOC). This is a detention facility for delinquent youth located on the Essequibo River, which can be reached only by boat. During the course of the journey, Sathya Sai devotees were fortunate to have an unplanned meeting with the Hon. Donald Ramoutar, President of Guyana, who happened to be in the area. Read More
