On 20th May 2013, a devastating tornado of maximum force hit the town of Moore, Oklahoma, killing 24 people (including seven children), destroying almost 13,000 homes and significantly affecting more than 33,000 people. Shortly thereafter, on Friday, 31st May, several other tornadoes hit Oklahoma City, killing another nine people, injuring hundreds more and creating additional damage and significant flooding in the area. More than 150 people, including 31 disabled persons, 12 educators and children with disabilities, attended a spring festival on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th May 2013, at the Mother Sai House in Divignano, Italy. Sathya Sai volunteers organised arts and crafts workshops on Saturday afternoon, and after dinner the guests were entertained by the musical group “Officina dei Ricordi” of Asti. On Sunday morning, the guests were escorted by Sathya Sai volunteers to Lake Maggiore for an enjoyable excursion.
The first Walk for Values was initiated by the Sathya Sai School, Canada, in 2003, to encourage participants to pledge to the practice of a human value for the following year, and to spread awareness of the human values to the public. The walk-a-thon has since spread to 10 cities across Canada and to four continents around the world, involving nearly 40 cities. Read More
