First Annual Bonita-National City Community Free Health Screening Day, California

On Saturday, 23rd June 2013, the SSIO of Southern California in coordination with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, organised a first annual Bonita-National City Community Free Health Screening Day in Bonita, California. About 300 Sathya Sai volunteers, 30 medical professionals covering nine specialties, “Friends in Sight” volunteers from the Lions Club and dental students and dental assistants from local schools, provided loving services. A total of 210 needy patients received medical care including 118 primary care, 116 dental, and 160 for vision services. Laboratory services provided at the camp included 57 blood tests and 5 peak pulmonary flow tests. One hundred twenty-nine patients with abnormal results were referred to clinics for follow-up medical work. A total of 102 ladies received gynecological exams, bone density tests, mammograms and Pap-smear testing. Vision services included complete eye examinations, and 144 patients received free prescription eyeglasses. In addition to health screening services, the camp provided families and individuals with hygiene kits and bags of food containing jars of peanut butter and jelly, rice, beans and other dry food items.

Consecration of New Premises for the Sathya Sai School – Scarborough, Canada

On 15th June 2013, about 500 Sathya Sai devotees in the Greater Toronto area held a consecration ceremony for the Sathya Sai School at its new premises at 451 Ellesmere Road, Scarborough. The school is an independent non-profit school, governed by the Sathya Sai Education Trust of Canada. The property was purchased in January 2013, and the school will move to its new location by September 2014. The consecration ceremony brought together religious leaders from Hinduism, Buddhism, Zoroastrianism, Judaism, Islam and Christianity in a multi-faith ceremony, as well as local, regional and national elected government officials. Sathya Sai School – Nairobi, Celebrates Sports Day and Teachers’ Day

The Sathya Sai School, at Kisaju, Kajiado District, Nairobi, opened in 2001 with Swami’s blessings, provides free education to poor and destitute children. At present, 125 boys reside in this boarding school, which recently completed the construction of a large, multi-purpose, ultramodern auditorium. In addition, the school has constructed seven concrete structures to house seven 10,000-litre tanks for harvesting rainwater. Read More
