In February of 2019, the Congregations for Social Justice, a coalition of faith communities committed to advocating for public policies, presented the 2019 Social Justice Award to the Sathya Sai Centre of Raleigh. During the award presentation, various service activities organised by the SSIO in the local community and their beneficial impact were highlighted.  Several people in the audience expressed their interest to know more about Sathya Sai Baba, His Message, and His Work.

The Sathya Sai centre subsequently organised a public meeting on 7th April 2019 to introduce Sathya Sai Baba’s message of Unity and Selfless Service to the greater community.  Various faith-based and service organisations with whom the Center had worked over the years were invited – with about 150 people attending the public meeting.  A speaker from each organisation presented their perspective on selfless service, the unity of faiths and religions, and the concept of “Love All, Serve All”. The audience was also shown an introductory video on the SSIO.  Mr. Sathya Gopalan, a graduate of the Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, narrated a few inspiring stories from Sathya Sai Baba’s life that exemplified his unconditional love. He also described Baba’s clarion call and guidelines for selfless service, which has led to large-scale projects providing free education, free healthcare, free drinking water and disaster relief, both in India and around the world. He concluded with the words of Sathya Sai Baba regarding his ultimate mission of transforming mankind. The event concluded with a multifaith musical programme with songs from various cultures, languages, and faiths conveying the message of Oneness. Many people expressed gratitude for the loving hospitality and found the event informative and inspiring.
