On 16th April 2016, as part of the annual Sathya Sai Aradhana Mahotsavam (offering of love and adoration to Sathya Sai), the SSIO of Kuwait, with the help of 15 volunteers and three teachers, organised a human values workshop for 75 students of Class 9 at the Indian Community School in Amman. The children were divided into eight groups for sessions on the identity struggles that children face as adolescents and the need to retain self-respect and values regardless of peer pressures and temptations. An interactive session provided an opportunity for the children to share their understanding of human values. Participants also viewed a video highlighting the negative impact of mobile phones and social media influence. The children created posters highlighting “negative emotions” such as anger, jealousy, greed, revenge, addiction, and cruelty to nature and animals, and each group presented their ideas in an innovative manner with charts and pictures. They were then advised to put their charts in a box and seal it, symbolising the discarding of negative emotions. The programme ended with a silent sitting session, underscoring the importance of meditation to calm the mind, maintain a positive attitude, and spread peace and love all around.
