Sri Sathya Sai Centers in the Seattle area, led by the Lake Washington Center, launched a unique Envirocare project to save fragile maple seedlings. These seedlings, often at risk from animals or environmental factors, need protection to grow into mature trees that provide essential habitat and shade. Twelve Sai volunteers came together, intending to rescue 3,000 naturally germinated seedlings. They carefully located, dug up, and transplanted the young plants into trays. These trays were then taken to a volunteer’s home, where the seedlings will be nurtured for several months until they are strong enough to be planted along nature trails throughout Washington state. This initiative is a powerful example of environmental stewardship, where small acts of care lead to long-term benefits for future generations and contribute to preserving native species.
