Members of the Sri Sathya Sai Center of Greater St. Louis, Missouri, have been serving the residents at the St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church night shelter for nearly forty years. A staple fare of pizza and drinks, fruit, snacks, and dessert is usually served, but residents are also treated sometimes to delicious home-cooked pasta. Residents often enjoy second servings, and leftovers are usually available for those who may walk in late or for a meal the following day.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the volunteers could not serve the residents in person for two years but continued to drop off food at the shelter. Since November 2022, the volunteers have happily resumed serving the residents in person. A volunteer reflected on how transformative and moving an experience it has been. Knowing that the dinner they served would often be the first meal of the day for many residents made him more humble and grateful when facing challenges in his own life.
