On the auspicious occasion of Buddha Poornima, on 18th May 2019, SSIO volunteers in the Philippines partnered with the Philippine Blood Center (PBC), a government blood bank, to organise a blood donation drive. The PBC aims to provide safe and adequate blood to the needy, free of charge, by conducting blood drives around Manila.

Assisted by two doctors and four paramedics, 25 volunteers donated more than 11 litres of blood. The donors were a mixed crowd, with a few new-comers and one person having donated blood 40 times! The immense success of this drive has encouraged SSIO volunteers to plan for two more blood drives during 2019.
