In Florida, residents of low-income communities often lack dental, foot and eye care. In response, SSIO volunteers in Clearwater have organised free medical camps near St. Petersburg, Florida, since 2004. Each year, volunteers hold six free medical camps in the St. Petersburg area. At the last dental camp on 21st April 2018, services were provided to 66 patients by seven dentists, one oral surgeon, seven dental assistants, six pre-dental students, six nurses and fifteen general volunteers. The attendees also received breakfast and hygiene kits. In a single day, 125 dental extractions and 40 dental fillings were completed. Patients’ blood sugar and blood pressure levels were also recorded.
