In June 2016, the SSIO of Latin America initiated a project to assist the Sathya Sai School, Unidad Educativa Colegio Valores Humanos, in Venezuela, which faced a food shortage. On 10th July 2016, more than 100 Sathya Sai devotees in Trinidad packed two 20-foot and one 40-foot shipping containers with 1,500 boxes of food for transport to Venezuela. Each box contained 20 kilogrammes of food, in addition to pencils, notebooks, and T-shirts for the school children. The containers left Trinidad by sea on 15th July, arriving at the school compound in Venezuela on 17th September 2016, in excellent condition. More than 50 local Sathya Sai volunteers and seven SSIO volunteers from Trinidad distributed the food lovingly to the Venezuelan communities of Abejales, where the residents were overjoyed with the bountiful provisions. The Sathya Sai School, with about 350 students, now had a food supply for more than six months. The SSIO has further undertaken the renovation of the school’s washrooms and water system.
