Music is widely recognised as an effective form of therapy for reducing stress, providing an outlet for emotions, and increasing body immunity and overall good health. To put this theory into practice, the Sathya Sai Centre of Cooksville in Toronto approached a local retirement home for people with mental and physical disabilities, to offer music therapy through a “Melody of Divine Love” initiative. SSE children, assisted by SSIO members, then planned and presented monthly programmes of devotional songs, music, dancing, and narration of spiritual stories at the retirement home. They also organised holiday celebrations for the residents, such as for Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. On 23rd April 2017, 25 Sathya Sai members helped to present an uplifting Melody of Divine Love programme, bringing cheer to the residents of the retirement home.
