Over the weekend of June 13-14, 2026, groups across Australia took part in a National Birthing Kit Assembly Project, marking 20 years of work by the Birthing Kit Foundation Australia in support of safe childbirth in underserved areas.
Organized by the National Ladies Program and National Service Wing, the initiative brought together devotees nationwide to sponsor and assemble birthing kits containing essential supplies for a clean, safe delivery. In Sydney, 50 adults and 10 Young Adults assembled 400 kits in 1.5 hours on June 13. Perth’s 11 devotees, gathering for the first time, completed 100 kits. On June 14, Canberra’s 40 devotees built 200 kits despite the cold weather,
Melbourne’s 17 adults and 8 Young Adults assembled 350 kits, and Brisbane’s 16 adults and five Young Adults completed 200 more. In total, 1,250 birthing kits were assembled, for distribution to expectant mothers in disadvantaged communities worldwide.
