Since the March 2020 lockdown due to the pandemic, there has been a severe shortage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). In March 2020, SSIO volunteers in UK undertook a national initiative, ‘National Visors Project,’ to supply hand-made shields or visors made with acetate material to protect healthcare workers who are caring for Covid-19 infected patients. Through this project, volunteers distributed over 4,500 handmade visors and 250 readymade visors. The service coordinators and the young adult volunteers collaborated to assemble an efficient team which was involved in successfully designing, acquiring materials, producing visors, maintaining quality control, and delivering the equipment to the healthcare providers in a timely manner.
