Several Sathya Sai Centres in Florida teamed up with a local health department to sponsor a podiatry (foot care) camp at St. Petersburg, Florida, for the benefit of the unemployed, homeless, or those without medical insurance. On the morning of 1st November 2014, 8 podiatrists, 15 nurses, 4 doctors, and 35 volunteers served 212 needy patients. The patient’s feet were first washed and then fitted with a new pair of socks. Following blood pressure and blood sugar measurements, the patients were served breakfast before being examined by a podiatrist. Each patient received new shoes, a blanket, and a boxed lunch before leaving. Many of those receiving care expressed their gratitude and said that they were overwhelmed by the loving service and compassion demonstrated by the doctors and volunteers.
