The Young Adults of the Sri Sathya Sai Center of Hong Kong organized a drive for essential items for the Refugee Union Centre of Hong Kong on August 19, 2023, as part of the SAI-100 initiative. The Refugee Union is Hong Kong’s first refugee-led society, and it serves over 3,000 people seeking asylum. Essential items such as medicines, warm clothes, food, and cleaning supplies were distributed to more than 200 refugees. It was gratifying to see the joy on the faces of the recipients. In addition, the Young Adults spent a meaningful afternoon with 25 refugee kids aged 4 to 10, offering them fun activities in Sathya Sai Education in Human Values (SSEHV) and games. The day ended with teaching the children a few human values songs.

A Young Adult reflected, “I loved every minute with the refugee kids. It melted my heart to see their innocence and the joy on their faces. I truly thank Sathya Sai for giving me the opportunity to teach them about human values.” Adella Namagembe, the Chairwoman of the Centre, wrote in a thank you letter, “We are most grateful for the wonderful session the Young Adults of the Sri Sathya Sai Baba Centre organized for our families. Our children enjoyed the creative and fun activities, while the parents welcomed the donation of 200 gift bags containing essential items, as government assistance remains very limited.”
