The Shakaskraal community in KwaZulu Natal in South Africa lacks access to basic medical facilities, with the nearest clinic being far away. Drawing inspiration from the Mother and Child Program, the Ladies’ Wing of the SSSIO in South Africa initiated a similar program to serve the mothers in this impoverished neighborhood. On August 13, 2023, SSSIO volunteers provided 23 mothers and 28 children with nutritional food hampers, breakfast packs, school shoes, and medical services such as pediatric care. In addition to serving mothers, the volunteers also served Mother Earth by planting fruit trees and Spek Boom, a native plant.
