On June 11, 2022, SSSIO volunteers from the US-South-Central Region partnered with St. Mark’s United Methodist Church to host a much-needed free medical screening camp in hurricane-devastated areas of Baton Rouge in Louisiana. About 30 dedicated SSSIO volunteers from as far as Texas arrived the day before to set up the medical camp and pack 100 grocery bags to distribute to the camp guests.

On the day of the camp, volunteers warmly welcomed and registered more than 50 guests, helped assess their medical needs, and ushered them through various health stations. Health providers conducted blood pressure measurements, glucose testing, dental checkup, and vision screening and gave free medical consultations. Twelve partner organizations, eager to assist, disseminated valuable health-related information.

A mobile blood drive by the Life Blood Donation Center collected 18 units of blood.
