On May 6, 2023, the Sri Sathya Sai Centre of Colombo hosted Buddha Poornima celebrations. The event, held from 7:00 AM until 5:00 PM, encompassed various activities and spiritual practices. The program commenced with a special Buddha Pooja, where devotees offered prayers, flowers, oil lamps, and incense to Gautama Buddha.
It was followed by uplifting devotional singing by SSE children, young adults, and adults, creating a spiritually charged atmosphere – this was especially felt during the soulful rendition of devotional songs by the young adults in the Bhakti Gee session.
Another highlight was a thought-provoking speech by the distinguished guest, Senior Lecturer Ven. Galkande Dhammananda Thero. He inspired the audience with Buddha’s universal message of peace, compassion, and Self-realization. He also stressed the importance of enhancing interfaith unity, in keeping with the teachings of Sri Sathya Sai Baba.
