At a small ceremony held at the Vishnu-Shiva temple, the Salvation Army, a non-profit organization, and the South New South Wales Major recognized SSSIO volunteers for their untiring service during the bushfires that devastated the state in 2019. It was attended by Minister Zed Seslja, Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Senator and Assistant Minister for Finance and Charities and Electoral Matters. At the ceremony, Major David McMurry spoke about how impressed he was about the work of the SSSIO, in particular the focus on unity of faith and service to the community. The President of the SSSIO of the ACT region shared the fundamental values taught by Sri Sathya Sai Baba.
