The Coronavirus pandemic has affected thousands of people through the loss of jobs, lack of medical care and food. The outbreak has had significant impact on the most vulnerable populations, including the elderly, children and daily wage earners. The loss of jobs in the cities has led many labourers to return to their homes, walking hundreds of miles in the blazing sun and heat.

In response to this crisis, SSIO volunteers in Nepal have distributed over 13,000 packets of hot meals, 1,400 packets of dry food, 1,200 packets of dry rations, and 4,000 loaves of bread to those living in orphanages, nursing homes and other shelters. The volunteers also distributed 500 masks and 300 bottles of hand sanitizers. In addition, they lovingly served stray animals and monkeys in temples. All service was carried out while observing physical distancing.
