SSIO volunteers from the Sathya Sai Center of South Bethesda delivered lunch every Friday to the Holy Cross Hospital Intensive Care Unit (ICU) staff in Silver Spring, Maryland. They provided nutritious meals to 40 medical professionals who tirelessly provided round-the-clock care to coronavirus patients. The Sathya Sai Center of South Bethesda received text messages from the staff stating that the lunches are a blessing because they were often overwhelmed and did not have time to go and get food. SSIO volunteers also provide lunches to local shelters that have seen an increase in residents due to the pandemic. Additionally, they delivered non-perishable food every month to a local food bank; and, delivered canned goods and toiletries to the ‘Ecumenical Community Helping Others’, a nonprofit group that helps families in need.
