The Redwood Shelter provides refuge for women and children fleeing domestic violence in Toronto. Over the last five years, SSIO volunteers from the Malvern Sathya Sai Center in Toronto and residents of the shelter have established a loving bond that originated from hands-on service activities and one-one-one interactions. On 25th January 2019, 13 families from the Sathya Sai Centre served dinner and dessert to the shelter residents. They provided wellness bags to the women and loot bags to the children, prepared by the young adults. Some volunteers cooked dishes while others played board games with the residents. This particular visit was special as it was the first time that the young adults had collectively volunteered to lead a segment of this project.
