On 23rd September 2017, Sathya Sai Young Adults of the SSIO of Southern California, with the help of over 20 volunteers, coordinated a day trip to Mother’s Beach in Long Beach, California. The annual day of fun at the beach brought joy to 30 developmentally delayed children and adults, ages 10 to 20, from Ability First, a day-program serving individuals with special needs. Each participant, paired with an SSIO volunteer, enjoyed activities such as beach volleyball, splashing in the cool ocean water, face painting, pizza for lunch and a musical programme offered by the volunteers. The day was filled with laughter and love, and the volunteers were especially moved by the selfless service provided by Ability First staff on a daily basis.
