A group of 162 SSIO volunteers from five countries provided loving services in the Sverdlovsk region of Russia in early August 2017. A 64-member medical team, including 25 doctors representing 14 specialties, along with 17 interpreters, served more than 3,800 patients from seven villages. Volunteers also distributed three wheelchairs and more than 900 pairs of eyeglasses. A construction team cheerfully repaired two schools in the city, at the Palace of Culture and Leisure and the regional polyclinic. In addition, they embarked on reconstruction of the Palace Square and the development of a park adjacent to the Palace of Culture and Leisure. Educators presented classes to more than 130 children, over five days. The education team organised 25 creative workshops, eight seminars for the public, and 26 consultations in psychology. In addition, the teachers took part in the preparation for the children’s holiday, on City Day. At this event, camp leaders awarded valuable gifts and prizes to the participants and winners of children’s contests. Volunteers distributed 150 sets of supplies, clothing for children and adults, 40 sets of bed linens, and household appliances, to more than 60 needy families. Finally, an audience of about 500 enjoyed a traditional concert at the Palace, presented by the camp participants.
