A two-day annual zonal council meeting of the SSIO of Zone 8 took place in Russia in late February 2018. In attendance were 40 SSIO officers from seven countries and seven regions of Russia. National and regional coordinators presented the work carried out in their areas, emphasising the most significant projects and positive examples, while outlining challenges and needs faced in their work in the divine mission. The importance of sharing experiences and finding ways to address challenges as a group was highlighted. On the second day, coordinators of each country and region shared interesting and important projects and events from the past year, including camps, services to the needy, and visits to social shelters, orphanages, and homes for the elderly and people with disabilities. As part of the global Serve the Planet initiative, several projects were undertaken in Russia to care for animals, plant trees, and clean the banks of rivers and water reservoirs.
