Guru Poornima Service across New Zealand

The Sathya Sai Centre of Tauranga, New Zealand, observed Guru Poornima by distributing reading glasses, colouring books, and reading books for children, and hair clips and pens to patients in recovery wards at the Bay of Plenty District Hospital.

About 20 members of the Sathya Sai Centre of Hamilton, New Zealand, celebrated Guru Poornima by planting about 600 phormium cookianum (New Zealand flax) saplings along the north-western banks of Lake Magellan, as part of a project to rejuvenate the natural surroundings.

SSIO members in and around Auckland observed Guru Poornima at a Teacher Appreciation Day with a seminar on the importance of teachers from a perspective of unity of faiths. The day featured uplifting talks by speakers from the Islamic Ahlulbayt Foundation and Sikh faith, dwelling on the importance of the teacher in one’s life, followed by small group discussions on the same general topic.
