On February 8, 2025, the SSSIO Canada, in collaboration with Chinmaya Mission Toronto, hosted a deeply moving World Interfaith Harmony Week event, themed “Faiths Together: Strengthening Love, Peace, and Community Bonds.” Held from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM, the gathering brought together various faiths in a powerful celebration of unity, compassion, and shared humanity.

The program began with heartfelt welcome messages from Ms. Devina of the SSSIO and Ms. Gaytrie of the Chinmaya Mission, followed by a respectful Land Acknowledgement honoring the Indigenous people of the region. Invocation prayers by children and youth and the symbolic lighting of lamps set a reverent tone, emphasizing peace and spiritual connection.

Opening reflections by Prof. Sivakumaran Nadarajah, President, SSSIO, Canada, and Swamini Shivapriyananda, Chinmaya Mission, highlighted the importance of love and interconnectedness across all faiths. The centerpiece of the event was an Interfaith Panel Discussion featuring voices from Jewish, Muslim, Sikh, Christian, and Sai traditions. Panelists spoke on love, compassion, service, and forgiveness, demonstrating how various faiths and traditions converge on shared human values.

Participants then joined small study circles to reflect on the themes of the day, fostering personal connection and introspection. Rev. Earl Smith, Church of Scientology, offered inspiring words on service and oneness, reinforcing the day’s message of universal brotherhood. The event concluded with a vibrant musical offering by the Sai youth, blending devotion and music into one harmonious celebration.
