Seventeen volunteers from the Sri Sathya Sai Group of Orlando joined the annual Martin Luther King (MLK) Day of Service Million Meal Pack at the Orange County Convention Center. The event, in partnership with US Hunger and the Orlando Mayor’s MLK Commission, aimed to provide one million healthy meals for underprivileged residents of Central Florida.
Volunteers worked together to bag dehydrated food like rice, lentils, and spices. The event inspired deep personal reflections among the participants. One volunteer was so inspired that he decided to start his own, smaller-scale project. In honor of Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s 100th birthday in November 2025, he plans to prepare and distribute 100 packages of beans and rice, macaroni and cheese.
With hundreds of volunteers contributing, the group successfully surpassed its goal, packing an incredible 1,013,580 meals. These meals were distributed to families in Central Florida, demonstrating that small and seemingly insignificant acts, carried out with kindness and in unity, achieved a remarkable feat – such as feeding a million people.
