In honor of Avatar Declaration Day, members of the Sri Sathya Sai Center of Sonjastraat, Suriname, undertook service with the theme, “Everyone is a messenger of Sai!”
Center members were asked to identify families with children in rural areas who needed school supplies. They provided 33 schoolchildren with school supplies and gave food packages to two food-insecure households. The volunteers also distributed school supplies at a needy school. Each package contained pens, pencils, wipers, sharpeners, notebooks, note pads, drawing pencils, a pencil case, a compass, a protractor, and extra notebooks. The hampers contained food staples for the households. Sustainable materials were used for all packaging.
SSSIO members were happy to have the opportunity to put Swami’s teaching into action, namely that selfless service is the road to personal transformation.
