The 11th European Sai Yoga Retreat was held from April 14 to 22, 2025, at Sai Prema (Athens, Greece), coinciding with both the Christian and the Orthodox Easter—a rare and meaningful alignment. Surrounded by the serene beauty of springtime, the retreat welcomed 23 participants from Greece, Germany, Austria, Italy, and the Netherlands.

The program was especially rich and diverse. Alongside the traditional morning yoga sessions, participants were introduced to afternoon qi gong classes, which were received with enthusiasm and appreciation. The physical and spiritual practices created a rhythm of calm, reflection, and rejuvenation throughout the week.

In the kitchen, participants and members of the Greek team volunteered alongside the regular cook, taking turns to prepare nourishing meals. On two evenings, devotees from Athens joined the retreat for bhajans and dinner.

Three moments stood out as particularly memorable during the retreat:

  • On Holy Thursday, participants attended a beautiful service at the Church of the Metamorphosis in Plaka, Athens—renowned for its exceptional choir. Afterward, the group enjoyed a guided walk around the Acropolis area, followed by lunch at a restaurant with panoramic views of the city.
  • On the evening of Good Friday, the group joined the mass at the Church of Saint Nikolaos and participated in the Epitaphios, the solemn procession of the body of Christ through the streets of Markopoulon. The sight of hundreds of townspeople holding candles in reverent silence left a profound impression on all.
  • On Holy Saturday night, as in previous years, the group visited the monastery of Panagia Pantanassa. In complete silence and darkness, they listened to the Gospel of the Resurrection. At the pivotal moment, the return of the Light was symbolized by the lighting of candles, a deeply moving and symbolic experience.

The atmosphere at Sai Prema was resplendent with love and dedication. A natural sense of harmony permeated the group, inspired by the subtle but powerful presence of their beloved Master, Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Chanting, meditation, devotional singing, yoga sessions, shared service, the early warmth of the sea, radiant spring flowers, and the golden Greek sunlight together created a retreat that was spiritually enriching and truly unforgettable.
