On January 25, 2025, the SSSIO Young Adults of Hong Kong visited a rehabilitation home for the elderly to celebrate the Chinese New Year with its residents. Sixteen youth thoughtfully planned activities to celebrate Chinese culture and the start of the new year, hoping to engage, entertain, and uplift the spirits of the seniors. One of the highlights was a calligraphy session, where residents expressed their creativity by writing Chinese characters symbolizing happiness, health, and prosperity. The young adults also organized festive bingo and memory card games featuring traditional Chinese New Year themes and Hong Kong attractions. These activities were entertaining and also promoted the health and mobility of the elderly through exercises.
The youth brought tissue rolls, tissue boxes, winter socks, toothpaste, and delicious cupcakes for all 30 residents. Following Chinese New Year traditions, they passed out red envelopes containing fortune cookies with uplifting messages and greeting cards with the teachings of Swami in English and Chinese. This beautiful service project not only exchanged New Year greetings but also fostered a sense of connection and love.
