In June, 2024, SSSIO members in Zone 8 (Russia and neighboring countries) enthusiastically celebrated Cleanliness Day. In Azerbaijan, members at the Baku Sai Center diligently cleaned the facility, scrubbing windows, doors, and floors and refreshing houseplants. Those unable to attend tidied up their homes and cottages. The day concluded with an uplifting online gathering.
In Russia’s Southern Region, volunteers cleared litter from the Sea of Azov and along the banks of rivers and lakes. They also cleared debris in parks, playgrounds, and public spaces while chanting the Gayatri mantra. Homes and gardens also received attention, with families weeding and watering their gardens and tending to household chores.
To inject a spirit of joy, children participated in the Sai Olympic Games, various other games, and cultural performances. In addition, visits to dolmens (ancient ceremonial sites) and meditation near waterfalls were arranged so volunteers could enjoy moments of spiritual cleansing.
