The Sri Sathya Sai Center of Hollywood initiated the weekly Burrito Project over ten years ago as part of a collaborative effort to feed the homeless in downtown Los Angeles. Every Saturday, eight dedicated Sai Center members gather to prepare fresh, wholesome burritos filled with cooked rice, beans, and flavorful spices. The burritos are encased in aluminum foil to keep them warm and fresh. Working efficiently, 108 burritos are made in less than two hours.

Once prepared, the burritos are transported to a designated service area in downtown Hollywood, where they are combined with other food items contributed by different Sai Centers, such as sandwiches, fruit, pastries, ice cream, and beverages. The homeless community in Los Angeles eagerly awaits the abundant spread and often expresses their heartfelt gratitude with benedictions of “God bless.” Volunteers feel equally grateful for the weekly opportunity to serve.
