Between September 15 and October 17, 2023, the Sai Center of Caxias do Sul organized three service campaigns to aid those affected by the devastating cyclone in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, which caused severe flooding and fatalities across 107 municipalities. This disaster was the most significant in the region in 40 years.
The campaigns were planned through a meeting of Sai Center leaders and volunteers, who coordinated with local agencies and the Fire Department for logistics. The service was divided into three phases: donations of cleaning supplies, personal hygiene materials, and toys and diapers for children at a school in Santa Tereza.
The project involved seven SSSIO members and seven members of the public. A total of 51 containers of bleach, 48 personal hygiene kits, 73 toys, and 120 diapers were collected, packed, and delivered to the Fire Department. This initiative highlighted the community’s resilience and the Sai Center’s commitment to service.
