Every year, SSIO volunteers in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan celebrate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi by organising an interfaith meeting. Through his actions, Mahatma Gandhi showed that the most complex issues, including political matters, can be resolved by non-violence, resolute spirit and perseverance. On 2nd October 2019, nearly 70 representatives from various spiritual faiths, along with 4 SSIO representatives, came together to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
The meeting began with talks about the life and works of Mahatma Gandhi and concluded with a concert filled with a repertoire of spiritual poems, Indian dances, songs, and musical renderings on komuz and flute. The concert was attended by Honoured Artist of Kyrgyzstan Gulzada Ryskulova, a well-known composer and komuzist author of a large number of musical works aimed at awakening consciousness and famous local artists. All attendees were inspired by the event and left the museum with a feeling of peace, mutual love, fraternal understanding, tolerance, and unity with mankind.
