Esther Stichting is a hospital and research facility for patients with Hansen’s disease in Suriname. In memory of Sathya Sai Baba, during April 2019, SSIO volunteers including eight Young Adults and six SSE students from the Sathya Sai Centre of Sonjastraat escorted 12 elderly residents and an assistant from the Esther Stichting facility to the local zoo to enjoy a day out. A 78-year old lady expressed her happiness and joy for this opportunity as this was her first visit to the zoo. The volunteers started the excursion with multi-faith prayers and devotional songs and then accompanied the seniors, some in wheelchairs, through the Zoo. They admired the animals, enjoyed the beauty of nature and conversed happily, ending the day with a delicious meal.
