89th Birthday Celebrations in Oman

Members of the SSIO in Oman celebrated Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s 89th Birthday by undertaking various activities during November 2014. On 21st November, 300 people attended a programme which included a video presentation on service projects, a performance by SSE children on human values, and Qawali songs about Bhagawan. On 23rd November, all seven Sathya Sai centres of Oman organised devotional programmes, attended by 50–75 SSIO members at each centre. Among other activities in late 2014, on 5th December, SSE children presented a two-hour cultural programme to more than 600 people in Salalah. In the Sohar region, Sathya Sai volunteers served food to 250 low-income workers at industrial camps in November. In Muscat, about 280 people attended a health awareness camp on 14th November, and Sathya Sai volunteers served food to 200 people in December. In addition, new shirts were distributed to 150 labourers, and groceries were distributed to needy Omani families and foreign workers in November.

Serving the Needy in Old Naledi Village, Botswana

On the first Sunday of each month, Sathya Sai devotees of Gaborone provide food hampers stocked with bread, sweets, biscuits, fruits, cakes, and a cup of milk, to children at the Naledi Day Care Centre in the Old Naledi Village. From July to October 2014, 400 needy children were served. On the second Sunday of every month, Sathya Sai volunteers serve fruit juice and biscuits to 40 patients at the Cancer and T.B. Centre of Gaborone. On the last Sunday of the month, 150 children in a local village are served lunch by the ladies of the Sathya Sai Centre of Gaborone. These activities are conducted year-round by Sathya Sai volunteers.

Service Projects for Bhagawan’s 89th Birthday, Ghana

On 19th November 2014, in honour of Bhagawan’s 89th Birthday, the Ladies Wing of the SSIO of Ghana served a breakfast consisting of porridge, bread, and milk, to 200 residents of Asylum Down, a psychiatric hospital in Accra. On 22nd November 2014, 18 Sathya Sai volunteers served rice, boiled cassava with stew, fried plantains, fruit drinks and biscuits to the residents of Pantang Hospital. In Apenkwa, Sathya Sai volunteers visited the homes of 25 elderly people and offered the elders rice and biscuits.
