The German SSIO held a meeting at Bad Homburg near Frankfurt, from 17th–19th February 2017, attracting more than 70 office bearers to discuss environmental protection and spirituality and to share new developments in the SSIO at the national and international levels. Participants also reflected on organisational activities of the previous year. One focal point was the collaborative work of various committees whose representatives elaborated on their efforts to serve SSIO members. A member of the European Sathya Sai Education (ESSE) Institute spoke about the spiritual aspect of Educare (EHV) in Kazakhstan, where Self-knowledge is part of the state school syllabus, and teachers from the ESSE support national teacher training there, in Educare.
