The SSIO of South Africa hosted a Unity of Faiths event on 18th May 2014 at the Ithembelihle Lsen School in Gauteng, South Africa. Over 300 people from the Christian, Islamic, Baha’i, Hindu, Judaism, Buddhist and Sufi faiths attended the programme which included songs, dance, drama and inspirational talks that promoted the message of unity among the religions of the world. The Ithembelihle Lsen School is supported by the SSIO of Johannesburg region and provides accommodation to 266 orphaned or abandoned children. These children have special needs, including physical disabilities and cerebral palsy. One-hundred-and-twenty children presented an adapted version of the play, “The Musicians of Bremen.” Reverend Jake Maseko, one of the keynote speakers, remarked, “In today’s function, in those different groups we find we are all saying the same thing. If everybody starts to realise that, it will grow into a union.”
