SSIO volunteers in Suriname celebrated the festive season of Christmas with various service projects around the country, bringing joy to both people and animals. On 19th December 2018, six volunteers visited the Stichting Dierenbescherming Animal Shelter to prepared food for the animals and wash and shampoo 30 cats and 70 dogs. On Christmas Eve, seven Young Adults from the Bhavan Sathya Sai Center distributed 22 food packages containing oil, brown sugar, yellow peas, flour, tea, toothpaste, bath soap, potatoes, onions, garlic, peanut butter, kidney beans, biscuit and syrup to the needy in Creola, Uitkijk, Jarikaba and Boma. On Christmas Day, seven SSIO volunteers visited a children’s’ hospital in Academisch Ziekenhuis, Paramaribo and spent the afternoon singing Christmas carols and playing with the young children.
