The Queensland Region of the SSSIO of Australia & PNG celebrated International Women’s Day on March 8, 2026, with a heartfelt event centered on empowerment, unity, and selfless service. The gathering of around 60 people aimed to inspire women through the values of love and wisdom, while celebrating the positive influence of women in society and within the Sai community.
The event featured a moving address by Fareeda Amir from Sydney, who beautifully linked the global significance of International Women’s Day with the teachings of Swami. Her talk reflected on the progress of women throughout history, beginning with the suffragette movement, and included personal stories from her upbringing in Pakistan, where all faiths were respected and universal brotherhood was practiced.
A panel discussion with local ladies of the SSSIO explored the practical relevance of Swami’s teachings in women’s daily lives. Discussions focused on the dignity and strength of women, family harmony, and the important role mothers play in shaping society and future generations.
The celebration also included a service activity in partnership with Micah Projects, an organization supporting women and families experiencing domestic violence and hardship in Brisbane. Participants lovingly prepared 108 care packages containing toiletries, personal essentials, and handmade cards for women in need.
