On March 17, 2024, SSSIO volunteers from the Northern Region organized a coastal clean-up campaign at Pannai Beach, Jaffna. Within 1 1/2 hours, nearly 90 bags of plastic bottles, polythene, glasses, and tins were collected from a 200-meter stretch of the beach. The waste was segregated and handed over to the Municipal Council for proper disposal. Young adult participants showed great enthusiasm during the service and engaged in discussions on creating awareness among the public and organizing future initiatives. The celebration concluded with Mangala Arathi, symbolizing the culmination of a fulfilling day dedicated to serving Mother Nature.
On the same day, 30 volunteers from the Vadamaradchy Sai Center conducted a beach clean-up at Akkarai village with the help of 21 villagers and 16 urban council members.
On the same day, members of the Sri Sathya Sai Center of Vadamaradchy cleaned up the beach at Akkarai Village. The effort involved 30 Sai volunteers, 21 villagers, and 16 urban council members. They spent more than three hours collecting three tractor loads of garbage, mostly plastics with a few glass bottles. Members of the Urban Council were pleased by the volunteers’ dedication and efforts, emphasizing the importance of continuing such activities to maintain a clean environment.
