The National Young Adult Forum of the SSSIO Mauritius organized a mental health workshop on March 26, 2021, titled ‘Coping with Stressful Situations during Lockdown’. Along with the risk to physical health due to the pandemic, many people found it difficult to cope with the mental stress induced by the lockdown, ranging from anxieties to fear of uncertainties.

A006EOccupational Therapist gave a stress management talk followed by a Questions and Answers Session, focusing on how to control ourselves during tense and stressful situations and develop a positive outlook. Many young adults took the opportunity to ask questions related to issues surrounding COVID-19 positive patients and their families, students taking examinations, and other facing adverse effects of the lockdown. The session was followed by demonstrations of stress alleviation techniques involving sports and cooking which can keep people busy and happy. In addition, it was pointed out that Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s teachings can be the greatest stress reliever.
