Sri Sathya Sai volunteers from Zone 8 launched an ecological project, “Clean Planet” to inspire everyone to practice the universal values of Unity is Divinity and Purity is Enlightenment by serving Mother Earth.

The first phase of the project involved clean-up of public areas by collecting trash.   During the period August 10–30, 2020, 144 participants from Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Azerbaijan took part in this activity Participants were assigned territories, in which they cleaned the yards, reservoir banks, playgrounds, parks, and forests. The volunteers not only contributed to the cleaning and preservation of nature but also used this opportunity to reflect on the teachings of Sri Sathya Sai Baba by reading quotes on nature, drawing pictures, reading poems, and creating figures using plasticine with the underlying theme, “I am taking care of my native nature.” The children also participated in interviews and answered questions that helped them contemplate on the necessity of preserving the nature. This stage of the project concluded with a joint online celebration, in which about 90 people shared poems, songs, and videos and children engaged in quizzes about nature. This project inspired the volunteers to care and preserve nature. This project not only had a positive ecological impact but also filled everyone’s heart with love, appreciation for mother earth, and gratitude to Sri Sathya Sai Baba for making this project a reality.
