On 29th September 2018, the Dallas Sathya Sai Centre hosted the first Service, Awareness and Integration (S.A.I) community festival, a public outreach event celebrating the first responders of Plano, Texas including the police, the firefighters and other first responders, such as the Salvation Army. Sai Spiritual Education students set up booths to educate the public about various first responder organisations and their vital roles, and prepared posters honouring local first responders. Young Adults lent a lively atmosphere to the event, with their band and several booths they had set up that featured fun games and activities using recycled materials. About 150 people attended the event including six prominent members of the community – the police chief and fire chief of Plano, and representatives of the Plano City Council, the Salvation Army, and a local shelter for the homeless. Each received a plaque of appreciation on behalf of the agencies they led. About 12 certificates of appreciation were also awarded to the members of the Plano Police and Fire Departments who were present.
