During April 2017, Australian SSIO members organised many programmes as offerings of love and gratitude to Sathya Sai. In Western Australia, SSIO young adults offered songs interspersed with talks on human values by a mother-daughter team and by five SSIO members.
In the Australian Capital Territory, an SSE student the highlight of an evening programme was a talk explaining the qualities of courage and its use in daily life.
In Victoria, and interactive discussion was held, in which the audience dispersed into small groups and discussed key concepts on caring for the environment, based on quotes by famous people, by developing them in the form of a song or skit. Some of the quotes were: You have it in your power to make your days on Earth a path of flowers, instead of a path of thorns, by Sathya Sai Baba; Our task must be to free ourselves by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty, by Albert Einstein; and A clean environment is a human right like any other. It is therefore part of our responsibility toward others to ensure that the world we pass on is as healthy, if not healthier, than we found it, by the Dalai Lama.
In the New South Wales Region East, the Ladies Wing hosted an educational workshop to examine the social issues associated with domestic violence. The 35 women who attended the workshop discussed the importance of actively practising the five human values to counteract violence and to promote peace and harmony at home.
