The Edmonton Sathya Sai Centre has been active in the Interfaith community for several years. In October 2017, the Centre received a message felicitating Deepavali (festival of lights) from Pope Francis, delivered by the Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton. Touched by the loving response from the Edmonton Sathya Sai Centre, Archbishop Richard Smith expressed interest in exploring joint community service projects. Members of the Catholic Archdiocese then attended the Sathya Sai Baba’s Birthday celebrations on 19th and 23rd November 2017. They were especially impressed with the displays on unity of faiths, and on social, educational, and medical service projects. Mr. Julien Hammond, Ecumenical Officer of the Archdiocese, addressed the audience and thanked everyone, re-emphasising the opportunity to work together.
