In late May 2026, SSSIO members from two cities in Russia’s Caucasus region held a coastal cleanup on the Caspian Sea as part of the Active Summer 2026 project, a service day that coincided with the Orthodox holiday of Trinity. Opening with the chanting of three Oms and three Gayatris, the volunteers worked to clear the beach, collecting nine bags of trash. They also fed the birds along the promenade and in a nearby park. A teleconference then let the group greet other regional teams and share updates on their work. Thirteen participants closed the day with bhajans at a devotee’s home, followed by tea and fellowship. Members who were unable to join the cleanup instead served locally, tidying their own neighborhoods, feeding animals, and providing financial help to families in need.
