On 7 March 2020, the SSIO of Sri Lanka inaugurated a water purification project that serves about 1,200 people in the Marungoda, Mahauswewa, Anamaduwa villages. The construction work started in August 2019 and ended with the installation of a water purification system in the Siri Perakum Primary School. During the inauguration ceremony, the students of the school planted five saplings and presented cultural programmes to celebrate the occasion. SSIO volunteers also distributed school bags to 84 schoolchildren.
